Hans Wegner, one of the most important and influential designers in the history of design, created this beautiful floor lamp in 1973. The Opala collection was originally designed for the Scandinavia Hotel in Copenhagen. It was published in 1976 by Louis Poulsen. It features in a number of major projects, such as Churchill College in Cambridge, designed by Henning Lampe. The distinct, almost futuristic acrylic shade gives Opala a touch of character. In addition to downlighting, the lamp contributes to the overall lighting of the room, as a pleasant glow passes through the lampshade and illuminates the surroundings.
